In 2010 Bob Kiss, the Mayor of Burlington Vermont, signed a letter of intent with Lockheed Martin which, though vague, signified a future partnership in which Lockheed would head up the climate initiatives of the city. Vermont and its largest city, Burlington, are known as some of the cleanest, healthiest, and eco friendly places in the United States.
Why would the mayor decide to bring in the world’s largest arms maker whose mission is profit from endless war? We in No Lockheed think that our climate solutions must be local, locally generated and ethical on all levels, and that partnering with war profiteers is an Orwellian solution to an urgent situation. And we want none of it.
