Come to a Town Meeting to discuss the issue of corporations being afforded the status as “persons” under the constitution. Saturday, March 05, 2011 @ 2:00 PM Montpelier High School Auditorium, 5 High School Dr., Montpelier What can be done to reverse the implications of “Corporate Personhood,” including the recent, disastrous, Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission that corporations have a constitutionally-protected right to unlimited and anonymous campaign spending?
How can we establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are entitled to constitutional rights? The meeting will feature a keynote address by Thom Hartmann, host of the nationally-syndicated “Thom Hartmann Program” and author. Also speaking at the meeting will be Rob Weissman, President of Public Citizen, Cheryl Hanna, Constitutional Law Professor at Vermont Law School, and VT State Senator Ginny Lyons. This meeting is free and open to the public. RSVP is requested, but not required. Contact Senator Sanders’ office for more information: 1-800-339-9834 www.sanders.senate.gov
