MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A labor union that represents workers at Vermont Yankee nuclear plant says state officials and others weighing its future should stick to the facts.
Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 300 are planning a Statehouse news conference Monday.
Vermont Yankee has applied for a 20-year license extension that would allow it to continue operating past 2012. The Vermont Senate voted 26-4 against the extension last year, though a second vote is possible.
Last week, the state Health Department issued a report saying there were no significant adverse health effects from radiological exposures resulting from the plant’s operations in 2009.
