Renewable energy law Douglas’ last as gov

NEAL P. GOSWAMIFriday June 4, 2010

The renewable energy bill is a fitting final bill for Douglas to sign into law, Douglas said. “It not only reaffirms Vermont’s deeply held environmental ethic, it builds on the close friendship we share with our neighbors in Quebec — a friendship that Quebec Premier Jean Charest and I have worked hard to cultivate over the past eight years.”

The new law includes a provision that recognizes power from Hydro-Quebec as renewable energy. Douglas traveled to Quebec City in March to help finalize a long-term power purchase agreement with Hydro-Quebec and several Vermont utilities.
