MONTPELIER – While the vast majority of Vermonters believe it appropriate for families and students to have options with regard to their education, Vermont House Democrats today said no.
“Vermonters in over 90 communities currently enjoy school choice,” said amendment sponsor, Rep. Duncan Kilmartin (R-Newport). “This amendment simply would have acknowledged this, and the fact that there have been excellent results. Frankly, I was stunned that even representatives who represent families who enjoy choice didn’t support this.”
“Unfortunately, the special interests in Montpelier won today, while Vermont families lost.” concluded Komline.
